Durant Public School Mission Statement
The mission of the Durant Public School District is to instill in all our students a love for learning while preparing them for a technological society, inspire our students to become leaders for tomorrow and involve parents in the decision making process for continued improvement.
The Durant Public School District embraces the principle that all students can learn. We are here to provide the challenges and help needed to ensure that students reach their academic potential and become positive, contributing members of society. Only through a shared responsibility among students, educators, families, and community can student’s success be guaranteed. The staff of the Durant Public School District is education children today for a tomorrow we can only imagine.
District Goals
1. To increase standardized test score in reading, mathematics, and language arts and specifically improve reading levels in grade K-12.
2. To improve the ability of staff to teach using a variety of teaching strategies and thereby reduce the percentage of students in the lowest quartile.
3. To improve reading scores in grades K-12 through the use of technology.
4. To improve classroom instruction utilizing computer assisted technology.
5. To promote a safe and drug free learning environment.
6. To place the utmost attention to : retention rates, dropout rates, discipline referrals, high graduation rate, reviewing community climate and resources such as Title I and Title IV.
